The illustration shows the Salzach skippers of Oberndorf.DVD zur Dokumentation "Stille Nacht, Heilige NachtThe Austrian TV (ORF) produced together with Sony Salzburg a DVD with contents of 7 and 17 minutes of the "Silent Night" documentation in 8 various languages.In 1818, on Christmas Eve, the world famous Christmas carol was performed at Oberndorf for the first time. The text was written by Joseph Mohr, the melody by Franz Xaver Gruber. Today, „Silent Night, Holy Night“ is sung in more than 300 languages and dialects.

ORF Landesstudio Salzburg (Austrian TV)and „Stille Nacht Land Salzburg“ (Touristical cooperation of 6 Salzburg "Silent Night" communities) have produced a documentation about the famous Christmas Carol. The film follows the traces and locations where the carol emerged and includes historic facts and backgrounds. The documentation was filmed in the city of Salzburg, and the towns of Mariapfarr, Oberndorf, Arnsdorf, Wagrain, Hochburg and Hallein. Some key szenes to the development of the song are acted out. Legends around the emergence of the carol and the biographies of composer and writer are reviewed critically.
